| Welcome to the
"Golden Age" of the Internet. Of course, you don't think of it being a
golden age yet because not enough time has passed. Then again, how many people
realized that they were in the golden age of radio, television, or comic books, for that
matter? How many of you are aware that the golden age of personal computers has come
to an end? What makes me feel that the golden age of the Internet is coming to a close is the fact that commerce has discovered the Internet. Also, the technology is so easily available. I am convinced that the universe will come to an end when everyone on the planet has a web page. The main purpose here is to give a place for my students to start from in order to learn more about the information I teach. As you can see, the material is laid out logically and is very easy to navigate. In addition, I have created a personal page which includes some personal information and links of interest. These are for "hard-core" Rosen-ites who can't get enough of me in the classroom, or for parents and administrators amassing information for any lawsuits they might have in mind. |

| Europe, 2007 | Harry Rose, "The
Broadway Jester", 1929. (3 minutes 54 seconds) Medium
Resolution
My great-uncle on my father's side of the family was an ex-Vaudevillian, singing stand-up comedian with a "floridly effeminate style" popular in the 1920's. He transitioned well into emceeing in the 1930's and spent he 1940's and 50's appearing on stage on both coasts. He settled in Los Angeles in the 1950's, did a few low-budget films, and was very involved with the Shriners, a show-business fraternity. This video is from an MGM Movietone Review, and shows both his introduction (with his "Here's Harry" intro) and then his most famous, or infamous song, "Frankfurter Sandwiches". He was born on December 2, 1893 in Leeds, England and died on December 10, 1962 in Los Angeles just six months after the death of his brother, my grandfather. |
| Venice, Italy, August
10, 2005 ( 9 minutes 25 seconds ) Low
Resolution / Medium Resolution
This is the 4th of the ongoing series of videos from the 2003 and 2005 trips. In this video I experimented with detailed titles explaining the scenes that you watch. Does this work? Should I try recording a narrative track instead? Please let me know. |

Paris, August of 2003 and 2005 (8 minutes 10 seconds) Low Resolution / Medium Resolution This is the second in an ongoing series of videos taken from the trips to Europe that I've been hosting for many years. This video is a combination from two trips, the summers of 2003 and 2005. All the students in this video have graduated already, but there are some wonderful memories with many new and old friends. |

Camping with the Cub Scout in San Pedro--8/5 & 8/6, 2006 (12 min. 30 sec.) Ian, Aaron, and I went camping with a group from Pack 629 from here in Cerritos. I had not been camping since my Boy Scout days and expected the worst. But it didn't turn out that badly! While there, we met up with a group of Girl Scouts on a mother-daughter campout. That evening we combined forces and entertained one another with skits and songs. Since the stage was unmiked, I put in subtitles so that you don't have to strain to listen to the dialogue.

The San Diego Comic Con 7/21 and 22, 2006 (9 minutes, 18 seconds) The San Diego Comic Book Convention has been held in San Diego since 1970 and has grown from a small fringe get-together into a major international event! I have been going to the Comic Con since my mid-20's when I was in college, and have gone on and off ever since. Now, it's time for a new generation of Rosenbergs to nerd out, as Aaron and Ian join me for their first convention!

London, August of 2003 and 2005 (5 minutes 37 seconds) This is the first of an ongoing series of videos taken from the trips to Europe that I've been hosting for many years. This video is a combination from two trips, the very hot summer of 2003 and the very chilly one of 2005. I've mixed both videos up although you can probably guess which clip is from what year by the weather and the people in it London will be our first destination on our trip in 2007. This is the first of a series of videos that will include France, Germany, Switzerland, Greece, and Italy.

A rare Los Angeles thunderstorm and Ian's piano playing 7/23/06 (3 minutes) Los Angeles has been suffering through a tropical heat wave for a few weeks with tropical weather coming up from Mexico. While not something to write about in other parts of the country and the world, a summer rain and thunderstorm here is a very rare thing.

M.U.N.Closing Ceremonies at Whitney High School--5/27/06 (15 min.) I've been doing Model United Nations at Whitney High School for many years. We have been holding our own conference for four. A closing ceremonies film has become a traditional event, but most are rather dull. I made a more ambitious video (my most ambitious to date) that was seen by about 500 adults and students who enjoyed it a great deal. You might not get all the jokes since we're a tight-knight group. Special thanks to my students for helping out.
